living slowly, on purpose
I’m a writer, creator, and slow living advocate based in the Irish countryside. Here you’ll find honest writing, a love of good food cooked from scratch, and a life lived a little more intentionally.
Slow living is a lifestyle that encourages a more thoughtful, unhurried approach to everyday life. It’s rooted in the Italian slow food movement of the 1980s, a direct response to the rise of fast food, and has since grown into a wider philosophy about how we consume, connect, and exist in the world.
It is not about doing everything slowly. It is about doing the right things with more care, more presence, and more joy. Choosing what truly matters and letting go of what does not.
For me, slow living is threaded through everything: the way I cook, the way I parent, the way I work, and the way I think about the world around me.

Choosing products, habits, and systems that protect the planet for future generations.
Supporting local makers, growers, and businesses. Keeping communities alive and connected.
Avoiding mass-produced and genetically engineered products in favour of what’s natural and real.
Eating and living as close to nature as possible. Unprocessed, unrushed, and uncomplicated.

slow living
The philosophy behind everything I do. Slowing down, choosing well, and finding joy in the everyday.

cooking
Food is love, and I believe in taking the time to make it properly. Seasonal ingredients, local producers, and meals worth sitting down for.

mothering
Motherhood changed everything, and I mean that in the best possible way. Slowing down to be present with my daughter is the most important work I do.

reading
Books are woven into my everyday life — quiet mornings, nap times, evenings on the sofa. Here you’ll find reviews, recommendations, and the stories accompanying me through each season.

growing
Growing my own vegetables and foraging from the hedgerows around our home. Getting my hands in the soil is one of the most grounding things I know.

exploring
From hidden corners of Waterford to adventures further afield. I travel slowly, stay longer, and always come home with a story worth telling.

For years, I built my marketing career with everything I had. Late evenings, weekends, the kind of dedication that gets you noticed…and then rewarded with more work. I was good at it, and I loved it. But somewhere along the way, I lost sight of what I was actually working for.
Then we moved to the countryside, I took maternity leave, and for the first time in years, I stepped away from work. I held my daughter, watched her grow, and felt a quiet dread at the thought of handing those ordinary, irreplaceable moments over to a job.
On my first day back, I was let go. No real explanation, no warning. Just the sudden, brutal clarity that a company will always replace you. Your family will not. That moment, as painful as it was, set me free.
Slowing down was not a trend I stumbled across. It was a choice I made when I finally understood what mattered most.
